Hello 2nd graders! We are starting a new and exciting science unit about Animals! Animals live in different places, look different and eat different things! Some animals are meat-loving carnviores, some are plant-eating herbivores and others, like us humans, are meating-loving plant eaters called omnviores! In your group, you will explore interactive resources all about how animals are classified by what they eat and create a venn-diagram poster! So, let's get started...

Carnivores

In your group, you are going to go to this website
CARNIVORES
and each group member will read a section. The group will make 5 bullet points about this type of animal.
  • What do they eat?
  • What types of animals?
  • What are some of their body adaptations?
  • Fun Facts?

You will then find 3-5 pictures in a provided National Geographic magzine to portray carnivores.

Don't forget to play the carnivore matching game!

Herbivores

In your group, you are going to go to this website
HERBIVORES
and each group member will read a section. The group will make 5 bullet points about this type of animal.
  • What do they eat?
  • What type of animals?
  • What are some of their body adaptations?
  • Fun Facts?

You will then find 3-5 pictures in a provided National Geographic magazine to portray herbivores.

Make sure you practice your herbivore matching!

and each group member will read a section. The group will make 5 bullet points about this type of animal.
  • What are some types of animals>
  • What do they eat?
  • What are some body adaptations?
  • Fun facts?

You will then find 3-5 pictures in a provided National Geographic magazine to portray omnivores.

Time to practice your omnivore matching skills!

Venn Diagram

In your group, you will go to the website (click the image to the right!) and input your written information into the three categories. You will then print it out and input your pictures around the venn diagram and present your findings as a group to the class!

When you are done...

You will complete this short quiz below and after completion you will get with a partner to play some of these interactive animal games to demonstrate your knowledge!
